Quite a marvel indeed, last of its kind.

If you love very old engineering, this is a very interesting place to visit. Location and waterwheel and pump building add to the experience.

We need to keep places like this running. An amazing feat of engineering from the early 1800s. The volunteers were lovely and knowledgeable, I definitely recommend a visit if you are down that way.

A wonderful piece of British engineering and canal history, expertly maintained and managed by volunteers. The tour was really interesting and perfectly timed.

The River Avon was in flood today. Snow was falling plenty of people were braving the weather to walk on the beautiful Kennet and Avon Canal. The aroma from the narrow boats wood fired stoves made the experience even more lovely.

The most superb example of a totally eco-friendly, non-polluting energy source in full working order and only 207years old. Great opportunity to see it in operation doing what it was originally designed and built to do. Do visit and give them a generous donation to help keep it running for future generations to marvel at and enjoy.

We went for a walk along the Kennet and Avon canal and had a look at the pumping station,it’s of the late Georgian period and started pumping in 1831,still to this day when it is in operation it takes water from the river Avon and puns it up 48ft into the canal itself. Sadly on our visit it was closed so we never got to see it in motion.

Great example of early 19th century engineering, been lovingly restored, open on (I think) Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. Cycle there, please do not drive as there is virtually no parking anywhere near! Also, please don't leave your rubbish there!

The Pump Station is over two hundred years old and fully working, restored by volunteers know as: The Claverton Pumping Station Group. Like other people have said 'it's a amazing sight to see it working' it's also situated in a beautiful spot. I recommend walking along the canal from Dundas Aqueduct to get the whole experience.
